AWA6150 Mouth Simulator for Telecommunication Transmitter & Microphone Acoustic Testing

Accurate Human Speech Simulation — Precisely reproduces the acoustic characteristics of natural human speech, providing a reliable excitation source for communication device testing.

High-Quality Loudspeaker Unit — Equipped with a high-quality loudspeaker that ensures stable, low-distortion acoustic output for accurate and repeatable measurements.

High Sound Pressure Output — Continuously generates a minimum of 100 dB SPL (0 dB = 20 μPa) at the Mouth Reference Point (MRP, 25 mm from the sound output aperture), meeting demanding test requirements.

Low Distortion Performance — Guarantees clean, accurate signal reproduction, ensuring the integrity of acoustic measurement data.

Standard DB9M Signal Interface — Accepts external signals directly via a DB9M connector, offering straightforward integration with standard test systems.

Ideal for Professional Use — Well-suited for telecom equipment manufacturers, testing/certification laboratories, and research institutions performing performance evaluation and quality control of telephone terminals, microphones, and related voice-capture devices.

    Product Description

    The AWA6150 Mouth Simulator is a sound source designed to simulate human speech. It is used to test the sensitivity and frequency response of telephone transmitters and microphones, as well as telephone sending loudness ratings. Compliant with IEEE 269, 661, and ITU-T Rec. P.51 standards, the AWA6150 incorporates a high-quality loudspeaker capable of continuously generating a minimum sound pressure level (SPL) of 100 dB (0 dB = 20 μPa) at the Mouth Reference Point (MRP)—located 25 mm from the plane of the artificial mouth's sound output aperture. It accepts standard external signals directly via a DB9M connector. Key features and applications include:
    1) Measurement of telephone sending loudness and the sensitivity/frequency response of transmitters and microphones;
    2) Sound source for acoustic measurements;
    3) Accurate simulator of human speech;
    4) Minimum continuous SPL of 100 dB (0 dB = 20 μPa) at the MRP;
    5) Low distortion;
    6) Compliance with IEEE 269, 661, and ITU-T Rec. P.51 standards.

    Main Performance Indicators

    AWA6150 Mouth Simulator

    Continuous output sound pressure level

    At the MRP, within the 150 Hz–8 kHz range,
    the minimum continuous sound pressure level is 100 dB (0 dB = 20 μPa)

    Distortion

    At the MRP, with an output sound pressure level of 100 dB

    (300 Hz–5 kHz), it is less than 2%; with an output sound pressure level of 100 dB

    (1k Hz), it is less than 1%.

    Speaker rated power

    15W
