AWA6163A Acoustic Coupler ( (IEC 60318-3)

Functions as an acoustic coupling cavity that replicates the acoustic characteristics of the human ear

Used together with a φ23.77 mm (1-inch) SPL capacitive test microphone (AWA14412), available with microphone height of 19 mm (with protective cover) or 17 mm (without cover)

Compatible with standard audio measurement and analysis instruments for sensitivity testing of electroacoustic devices, including receivers and headphones

Primarily applied to audiometer calibration and hearing aid measurement

Designed and manufactured in accordance with IEC 60318-3 (formerly IEC 303, NBS 9A) — also referred to as the "IEC 303 simulated ear"

Coupling cavity volume of 5.78 cm³, commonly known as a "6 cc coupling cavity"

    Product Description

    The AWA6163A simulated ear is an acoustic coupling cavity that mimics the acoustic characteristics of the human ear. It is used with a φ23.77mm (1-inch) sound pressure level (SPL) capacitive testing microphone (AWA14412 model, microphone height with protective cover 19mm, height without protective cover 17mm) and a preamplifier (AWA14604 model). It is used with compatible audio measurement and analysis instruments for sensitivity measurement of electroacoustic devices (receivers, headphones). It is primarily used for audiometer calibration and hearing aid measurement. The AWA6163 simulated ear is designed and manufactured according to IEC 60318-3, formerly IEC 303, NBS9A), therefore it is also known as the IEC303 simulated ear. Because the coupling cavity volume is 5.78 cm³, it is also commonly referred to as a 6 cc coupling cavity.
